Booysens Detention Pond

     Booysens Stormwater Detention Basin

 

     Constructed to avoid the need to enlarge the culvert under the        busy Boosens Road / Klipspruit Valley Road intersection and        to comply with the philosophy of the City of Johannesburg that      discourages the enlargement of drainage systems where              alternative measures are feasible.

 

    The basin doubles as a football field except for a few hours           every couple of years. Multiple use of stormwater management     facilities is an essential component of water sensitive urban           design.
